PLAN
What I'd like to achieve/learn:

I'd like to produce a portfolio/exhibition showing around 25 pieces of editorial photography, at the end of my project I'd like to have learnt new tips which would help me toward achieving higher quality photos which would look better in my personal portfolio and in the future applying for jobs. One thing that may hold me back from achieving 25 photos is booking the studio as the college only has 2 studios with a lot of students wanting to use it as well, this could be resolved by using a variety of backgrounds if i couldn't get the studio more than once. Another thing that may hold me back is booking my models as both have a very busy schedule and finding a time when I have free time and they do can be quite difficult.

Resourses needed:
Model: Lucinda, Sophie and Hannah
Editing software: Photoshop
Camera: SLR
Location: Studio

Shoot Plan:

  • My first shoot I'm hoping to book the college's studio and experiment with poses and the body.
  • I'd like to have a range of close ups and full body shots so i can choose between both, I'm also interested in trying both white background and black background.
  • I'd like to experiment with angles, and I'd like to try out with birds eye view.
  • I'd like this shoot to focus on fashion as editioral is popular with fashion shoots and I'd love to try out editorial as I'd never had a chance, as I havn't done editorial photography yet I will need to look at other photographers work and look online for tips and tricks.
  • I love 'Micheal Robert Williams' and I'd love to look into his work and hopfully I'll be inspired by him.
  • As I will be using the studio it will be un-natural light this will add to the editorial effect and make the photo look more interesting even if it's a boring background.

Problems I came across – My original model that I’ve worked with a lot before is unable to do this shoot and had to cancel on me at last minute so I had to find a new model but this meant I hadn’t worked with them and I didn’t know what would work with them and what wouldn’t but in the end it worked to my advantage in a way as I had 3 different models which meant I would get a range of photo’s but some photo’s I found looked quite crowded.

Look through shoot from 26th and create a contact sheet.
03/02/2012

Problems I came across – A lot of my images were too similar to use altogether so I had to leave some out. In the end I managed to pick quite a lot and I may have to cut down the amount.
